Johan’s family had later moved to the island of Nord Arnoy
[which Eric believes is the origin of his Orner surname, apparently along with
a transcription error by some clerk in the U.S.
] He came to the U.S. on the ship Tasso II,
which sailed from Trondheim, Norway via Hull, England and arrived at New York
City on 08 September 1883. He submitted a Declaration of Intent to become a
U.S. citizen [surname shown as Peterson/Pederson] on 25 October 1885 in Ogle
County, Illinois. [Elena came to the U.S. about 1881.]
He was a carpenter.

During (son of Nels and Carrie During) who was born 11 November 1905 at Superior and died 27 October 1980 at Superior, possibly later divorced [she is listed in the SSDI under her maiden name]. Raymond James Orner, born 05 February 1916(7); died 16 August 1997 at Solon Springs(7); married 03 November 1952 at Superior to Ruth Isabel (DeVoe) Herstad (her second marriage)(daughter of Raymond Leslie DeVoe and Ethel Baxter) who was born 31 December 1923 at Ellenville, Ulster, New York.
